How it works

Consult a dermatologist in four steps

01

Submit the case

Fill out a structured referral form with the patient's chief complaint, clinical images, and relevant history. Takes under 5 minutes.

02

AI-assisted triage

Our platform analyzes the presentation and routes the case to the most appropriate available dermatologist based on urgency and specialty fit.

03

Dermatologist reviews

A board-certified dermatologist reviews the case asynchronously and composes a structured eConsult response — differential, impression, and management plan.

04

Receive the report

You receive a formal peer-to-peer eConsult note via email and in your dashboard. The report is structured for easy documentation in your EHR.

Built for physicians

Designed around your workflow, not around scheduling

Async, store-and-forward

Submit cases at any time — morning rounds, after hours, between patients. No real-time call required.

Formal peer-to-peer documentation

Receive a structured eConsult note in clinical language, ready to attach to your patient's chart.

No patient coordination needed

You submit on behalf of your patient. No patient portal login, no patient scheduling. You manage the referral end-to-end.

Practice credit accounts

Institutional groups can purchase bulk credits at a negotiated rate. A practice admin manages the account, providers just submit.

Sample eConsult Response

Re: Erythematous plaque, R dorsal hand

Responded in 11 hours · Dr. A. Patel, MD — Board-Certified Dermatologist

Clinical Impression

Presentation is most consistent with nummular eczema, though granuloma annulare should remain on the differential given the annular morphology and absence of scale.

Differential Diagnosis

  1. Nummular eczema
  2. Granuloma annulare
  3. Tinea corporis (less likely — KOH prep recommended to exclude)

Recommendations

Trial mid-potency topical corticosteroid (triamcinolone 0.1%) BID × 4 weeks. If no improvement, consider punch biopsy and in-person referral. KOH prep prior to initiating steroid if fungal is suspected.

FAQ

Common questions

What specialties are available?

DermLink's network consists exclusively of board-certified dermatologists. All providers are licensed in at least one US state, and the platform automatically routes cases to providers licensed in the patient's state.

Is the eConsult report usable in my EHR?

Yes. The report is formatted as a formal peer-to-peer eConsult note with structured sections (impression, differential, recommendations). You can download a PDF directly from your dashboard.

What happens if my patient needs an in-person visit?

If the consulting dermatologist determines that in-person evaluation is necessary, the eConsult note will include a clear recommendation to that effect with suggested next steps.

How does the practice credit model work?

Your institution's DermLink admin purchases a block of credits at a negotiated rate. Each consultation submitted by a provider in your practice deducts one credit. You can track usage and balance in the Practice Admin dashboard.

Is the platform HIPAA compliant?

Yes. All PHI is encrypted in transit and at rest. DermLink operates on HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and can sign a BAA with institutional partners.
